Green Argiculture
In order to reduce the use of chemical pesticides in conventional agriculture, innovative herbicides can provide sustainable solutions thanks to their low persistence, complete biodegradation and their particularly favourable eco-toxicity profile.
Pelargonic Acid
Pelargonic acid is a very promising, biological herbicide that will be tested within Grace Project.
The advantage of pelargonic acid compared to other conventional herbicides is the much better enviromental profile and avoidance of any safety risks for humans and animals.
In GRACE, Novamont further developed the formulation of the bioherbicide product containing pelargonic acid, including testing hemp oil as adjuvant. By this optimization, the efficacy of the product could be improved and the resulting product is meanwhile very close to commercialisation.
Funders
The GRACE project has received funding from the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 745012.
